My name is Susan Lyman, founder and creator of Tails Untold® and I am a pet lover!

Tails Untold® was started because I realized every pet has its own unique personality and characteristics and pets play a big part in every family. The saying, "PETS ARE FAMILY, TOO!" is so true! I also believe that all pets deserve to have a home and be loved and nurtured like all family members.

My entrepreneurial career path has been very diverse, having started several business. After receiving my BS degree in Business/English, I ran a health salon franchise, that involved teaching women all about diet, excersize and nutrition. I taught aerobics classes as well as worked on individual nurtritional programs to improve the health and well being of my clientele. After receiving my Series 6 and Life and Health Licenses, I became a Financial Planner. From 2003 to the present, I started and run a national Independant Advertising/Marketing Representative business.

In between being an entrepreneur, I received my MBA in Corporate Financial Management. I spent many years as a bank officer and new business development officer for several financial institutions covering Wall Street and the Investment Banking Community. I left finance to begin working in the Publishing/Advertising Industry where I sold Integrated Marketing Programs for several different magazine publishing companies.

All throughout my life, I have been an animal lover. I have always loved photography and I have had an afinity to write. This is how Tails Untold® came to be!

I wanted to create something that included all my passions; animals, photography and writing. I kept all of this in mind and then one night I remembered years ago when my wonderful nephew, Timothy, was very young, I wanted to get him a very memorable gift. I went to a famous toy store and filled out a questionnaire. I mailed (no emailing at the time) the form to a company and they personalized a children's book with Tim's special individual information. It was adorable and a keepsake to this day. How could I do this for all pet lovers?

Why not a personalized Pet Book? I wanted it to be more personalized than the book I had made for my nephew, which only had a few personalized words (eg. his name, age, etc.) and not personalized photos in the illustrated story.

There are many personalized gifts for children, adults and pets. I researched and saw there was nothing like a Tails Untold® Book. Our personalized pet books are more than a photo album. Since every pet is unique, our books include your special furry family member's special information, characteristics and photos which we incorporate into our beautifully-illustrated and artfully crafted story. Your pet comes to life in each adventure story.

We wanted to make the process easy and fun for you. We want you to tell us about your pet and his/her unique characteristics including a very special memory with your pet. All you need to do is fill out our pet information form and upload photographs of your pet. Tails Untold® does the rest.

Your Tails Untold® Pet Book can be display, shared and enjoyed by you and your family and friends for generations. Our books make great gifts, too.

Tails Untold®started in May 2011. My very talented sister, Janet and mother of Timothy, helped me write my first story and is one of my biggest supporters. She continues to assists in many aspects of my business. My sister, Sherry, also an entrepreneur, loved my idea and encouraged me to follow through. My nephew Timothy was and is invaluable in helping me research several aspects of the business. My wonderful husband, Frederick has been a very strong supporter throughout the two years it has taken from concept to creation.

New York City is Tails Untold®'s "first adventure"! Having lived in the heart of the West Village of New York City for over 20 years, the doggy and kitty capital (or so it seems) of New York City, it made purr-fect sense to create "your pets" first adverture here. Eventually, Tails Untold® will create a series of adventure books, so your cute furry family member, can venture into new cities throughtout the world.

I have had the great fortune of having a very talented Illustrator, Jenne van Eeghan, a fantastic, artistic photoshop expert, Leon Rechter who helped with the layout of the book, so every pet can experience the sites in style, and a very talented website designer Loralee Argyle, and web developer Glen Barratt to help bring Tails Untold® to life.

As pet lovers, Tails Untold® values the right of every animal to live in a loving and nurturing environment. Tails Untold® donates a percentage of the profits of each and every book to an animal shelter, animal rescue, or other special animal advocacy groups.
